In the previous blog, we created a plan for proper daily facial care and marked it as the first necessary step to perfect facial care. However, in order for this first step to give the expected and complete results, it is obligatory to introduce the necessary skin exfoliation into the weekly skin care routine, at least once a week, and ideally twice a week.
We said that the skin wears out, regenerates, renews itself, but also that it becomes thicker and more resistant over time. That is why it is necessary to remove the dead layers of the skin with exfoliants, as well as to clean the pores in which atmospheric impurities have accumulated.
Exfoliation, in addition to cleaning the deeper layers of the skin, stimulates the natural production of collagen in the skin, accelerates circulation and improves the appearance of the skin.
There are various exfoliation products on the market, but if you are not sure whether the composition of the offered scrubs is of natural and harmless origin, we advise you to make a scrub yourself at home, until you find “your own” scrub.
Exfoliants differ in their purpose and the type of skin they are supposed to treat. Exfoliants that have delicate, small particles in their composition, such as coconut flour, semolina or some delicate particles, are considered mild and gentle exfoliants, and treatment with them is recommended twice a week.
If there are coarser particles in the composition of the scrub, such as sugar or whole lavender flowers, then such a scrub is considered a rough scrub and it is suitable for body exfoliation or at most once a week for face exfoliation.
Calendula oil and evening primrose oil are used for sensitive and problematic skin. For oily skin, hazelnut oil is suitable, and for dry skin, argan or macadamia oil.
Below we will give a recipe for a universal scrub made from natural ingredients that can be made at home and will genuinely be perfectly useful for the treatment of your facial skin.
Recipe for mild scrub.
– 1 tablespoon of coconut flour
– 1 tablespoon of semolina
– 2 tablespoons of olive oil
– ½ tablespoon of horsetail tea, chamomile…or mineral water
– A drop or two of lavender essential oil (optional)
This is all the wisdom of a simple scrub, which will do the work it is intended for perfectly. More demanding scrubs are just a matter of imagination or the raw materials you have available.
Instead of olive oil, you can use any other cooking oil you have on hand. When it comes to natural cosmetics, the mention of oils certainly means cold-pressed, organic oil, but even refined sunflower oil will serve the purpose and be more useful than not exfoliating at all or using raw materials of chemical origin for exfoliation.
As for the solid ingredients, you can use lavender flowers, ground for a mild scrub or whole for a rougher scrub, then plants from a tea filter bag, ground flax, chia or poppy seeds, etc.
And so, when you have created your scrub, make sure to protect your hair, and in the bathroom, exfoliate in front of the mirror, applying the scrub to your face with your fingers and making circular movements on your face, without over-stretching the skin. Adjust the thickness of the scrub, adding liquid or solid components, it is important that the texture suits you, that the scrub does not leak between the fingers, but also that it is not too thick.
Exfoliate your entire face and neck for a few minutes, then rinse with warm water.
Store the leftover scrub in the refrigerator for a few days, until the next skin treatment.
After peeling, it would be ideal to apply a face mask that you can also make at home or apply a mask that we have prepared for you at Lavina Cosmetics, and keep it on your face for about twenty minutes, remove it with warm water, and then apply one of Lavina Cosmetics moisturizing creams, oil serum for wrinkles or vitamin oil serum to your face.
